Painted onboard the Bliss with Norwegian Cruise Line while inport Seattle, just before saling on an 8-day Alaskan Cruise. I drew the scene with micron pen in my sketchbook, then added watercolor. The challenge, as always with plein air, was that that big transport ship (barge?) On the left kept spinning, and of course the small boats changed constantly. One if the Distant Cruise ships (upper right) also got underway before I had finished. But the painting captures the feel of the day.
