4th Annual Watercolor Carson City

The 4th Annual Watercolor Carson City plein air festival took place August 14 - 18, 2024.

Thirty one artists worked diligently in and around Carson City, Nevada for four days, producing 70 paintings for the auction fundraiser finale event on Sunday, August 18th.

Fundraising efforts for charitable recipient, Capital City CIRCLES Initiative.

The auction and awards ceremony saw 72 ticket-holders attend. Attendees chose our People's Choice Award, a memorial award in honor of La Vonne La Tulip Vasick, an influential watercolor artist for many years, who passed away in 2024. This year's recipient was Laura Lawrence with her painting, First Presbyterian Church.

Other award recipients took home $500 or $100 cash prizes for winning Category Awards as follows:

The festival generated over $11,000 in sponsorships, donations, and sales. But the best outcome was seeing painters capturing beautiful Carson City, painting from life (it's much harder!), while enjoying unseasonably cool temps (highs in the 80s all week) for August.

Thank you to all who participated as an artist, a demo participant, a sponsor, a painting collector, a ticket purchaser, or one who gave even a small donation. Every little bit went toward making the event a success for both artists and the charity. Watercolor Carson City will be donating $4,000 to our charitable recipient, the Capital City CIRCLES Initiative.
